CAMP HILL, AL, May 19, 2010 --- Five eighth graders at Lyman Ward Military Academy have had their poems accepted for publication in a national poetry anthology, according to their teacher, Mrs. Tamar Reed.
“Earlier this year our eighth grade English/Language Arts class entered a writing competition sponsored by Creative Communication – A Celebration of Today’s Writers,” Mrs. Reed said. “Thousands of entries are submitted from around the country, but only the best poems are selected to be included in the anthology, A Celebration of Poets.”
Cadets whose poems were accepted for publication are Joe Carney of Peachtree City, GA; Brett Crowley of Dothan, AL; Thomas Gibson of Montgomery, AL; Logan King of Harker Heights, TX; and Taylor Walker of Westbrook, CT.
“Creative Communication proudly congratulates and recognizes these cadets on doing a fine job that brings recognition not only to themselves, but to Lyman Ward Military Academy,” Reed said. “It is a tribute to these cadets’ talents to be published at such a young age in a national poetry anthology.”
