
WADLEY, AL --- Southern Union State Community College in Wadley, AL, honored three senior cadets from Lyman Ward Military Academy at its annual Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society Outstanding Student Banquet, held on April 30 in the college Dining Hall on its main campus in Wadley.
Seniors Zavious Darling (Covington, GA), Ryan Ferrara (Germantown, TN), and Michael Knecht (Palatka, FL), were guests of honor, along with high achieving students from 20 other area private and public secondary schools. The annual banquet is sponsored by Southern Union’s chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the International Honor Society for two-year colleges. Phi Theta Kappa is the largest honor society in American higher education with more than 1.3 million members and 1,100 chapters.
Southern Union President Dr. Amelia Pearson and Vice President for Academics Dr. Rod Britt personally congratulated the LWMA honorees. The students attending the banquet enjoyed a lively musical program presented by the Southern Union Sound and the Southern Union Dancers, and received certificates recognizing their academic and leadership accomplishments.
