Lyman Ward Cadets Take Home Awards at Alabama State Beta Club Convention
CAMP HILL, AL -- Two senior cadets from Lyman Ward Military Academy won awards at the Alabama State Senior Beta Club convention held March 19 - 20 in Montgomery, AL.
Cadet Ryan Ferrara placed second in the state arts and crafts competition with his color photography entry, while Cadet Stewart Barnes placed third in the state with his sculpture entry. Ferrara, who serves as the Academy's Batallion Commander, is from Memphis, TN. Barnes hails from Vestavia Hills, AL.
The cadets competed in both the scholastic and fine arts competitions. They presented the colors at the opening ceremony of the state convention, as cadets from Lyman Ward have done for many years.
The National Beta Club is a scholastic honor society for high achievers in academics and co-curricular activities. Lyman Ward Military Academy has historically had active chapters at both the senior school and junior school levels, sponsored by Mrs. Tamar Reed, veteran English/Language Arts teacher.
