Ranger Roundball Team Notches Second Win of Young Season over Enterprise

ENTERPRISE, AL - Lyman Ward's Varsity Basketball team notched its second consecutive victory here over Enterprise Prep, 85 - 33, on Tuesday, Nov. 18.

The Running Rangers got off to a 17 - 12 start in the first quarter and never looked back, leading the entire game.  LWMA led 38 - 22 at halftime, then came out strong in the third quarter, outscoring the home team 27 - 3, and coasted to victory in the fourth quarter.

"Our guys got themselves ready to play tonight after a three-hour road trip," said Head Coach Jeff Damron.  "We have been emphasizing the team concept in everything we do from day one, and so far, the players have responded.  It's a team game, and it's amazing what can be accomplished when no one cares who gets the credit."

All 10 Varsity Rangers played and scored in the game.  The Rangers were led by senior wing Justin Minor, who scored a game-high 21 points.  Freshman wing Amory Thompson put 14 points on the scoreboard, along with six assists and five rebounds; freshman point guard Justin Quinn added 11 points and three steals, while senior post Zavious Darling and freshman wing David Evens added eight points apiece.

LWMA moves to 2 - 0 on the young season, while Enterprise Prep falls to 0 - 2.

The Running Rangers will take a week off for Thanksgiving break, then return to action at home on Tuesday, Dec. 2 versus Chambers Academy, and at home on Friday, Dec. 5, versus Ashford Academy.  Both games against these traditionally strong AISA opponents have a 5:00 p.m. CST tipoff time in the LWMA Gymnasium.
