
WADLEY, AL - Lyman Ward Military Academy's Scholars Bowl team competed in a five-team tournament held on Tuesday, Oct. 28, in the Renaissance Center on the Wadley campus of Southern Union State Community College.
Other schools participating in the tournament, all members of the Alabama Independent School Association (AISA), were Chambers Academy, First Assembly Christian School, Lee-Scott Academy, and Springwood School. The Springwood team won the tournament, the first of the 2008 - 2009 academic year.
Representing Lyman Ward at the Southern Union Private High School Scholars Bowl Tournament were: Stewart Barnes, a senior from Birmingham, AL; Zavious Darling, a senior from Covington, GA; Kelly Haddock, a sophomore from Albany, KY; and Wilson Richardson, a junior from Woodstock, GA. Haddock and Richardson are first-year Scholars Bowl team members; Barnes and Darling return from last year's team. Team Captain Ryan Ferrara, a senior from Germantown, TN, and Jarrett Kupec, a junior from Huntsville, AL, were unable to attend the event.
