Gardner Gains Honors

Cadet Benjamin Gardner, a fourth-year senior from Biddeford, ME, has already had a banner year.  He represented the Academy as its nominee for the Tallapoosa County Tohopeka Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Good Citizen Program and Scholarship competition. Gardner was selected because he demonstrates the qualities of good citizenship --dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism – as defined by the DAR.  LWMA English instructor Mrs. Tamar Reed serves as historian for the Tohopeka Chapter of the DAR. Gardner also has been accepted by the prestigious Virginia Military Institute (VMI) for Fall admission to its Class of 2010, where he plans to study engineering.  He serves as president of the Academy’s Beta Club scholastic honorary society, is an active member of the Academy’s award-winning Scholar Bowl team, is enrolled for the second year in the Academy’s Advanced Placement (AP) program, and is Company Commander for Echo Company.
