All new Lyman Ward cadets, or returning cadets, who have been out of the Academy for more than three semesters, will be required to undergo New Cadet Training. The training program has been designed by senior cadet leadership in coordination with Tactical Officers and the Commandant of Cadets, and approved by the Academy President. New Cadet Training begins on the morning of the second day new cadets arrive on campus and ends on Wednesday evening of the week prior to the first weekend leave.
New Cadet Training is designed to quickly and efficiently indoctrinate newly enrolled cadets into the military way of life in general and to Lyman Ward in particular. It is the first step in developing an inner sense of self-discipline, and is based on the premise that in order to become a leader one must first be a follower.
